online pocker sidegames

An online pocker sidegame is generally anything that constitutes a non tournament game. Although I do play cash sidegames I have always preferred tournaments, with a cash game you can never be sure quite how much you might lose if a hand goes badly wrong. www.pockerstars.com

In a pocker tournament it would be your buy in fee, no matter what happens, in sidegames it can be everything you have on the table. That’s not to say I dislike sidegames in any way, they do have some good points, for instance, you don’t have to worry about constantly increasing pocker blinds coming round to devour your chips/cash, and so you can play as patiently as you like. Also you can choose the blind sizes you play pocker at and whether you play limit, pot limit, or no limit, before you even sit down, so you know what most of the pot sizes will average at.

Of course with pocker tournament play you can’t just stand up and leave the table if you have played well and accumulated lots of chips, with the sidegames you can leave at any time. In addition to this I have always found that there is a more relaxed pocker atmosphere at the sidegame tables, with plenty of chatting, provided you arent playing for big stakes anyway. So sidegames certainly have their advantages and can be a gradual way of slowly building your bankroll, where as in tournament play you either make it to the money paying places or you don’t.

Despite this I have to say I prefer my tournaments because you can plan your play not just in view of a given hand you have been dealt but with the larger tournament picture in mind in terms of where you are in the chip counts, average stacks and the like.

Also I am far more practiced in this area than the pocker sidegames, so my tendancies are to play more of them. The most important thing is what works for the individual, if as a player you enjoy playing pocker sidegames and are successful at them, then by all means continue playing them, if it’s healthy to your bankroll, then great.

Try and save a little time however, to expand the tournament side of your game, because if you want to enter major pocker tournaments like the World Series one day, you need to have that knowledge in your armoury. www.pockerstars.com
